Maria focuses on the regulatory framework governing the banking and financial services sector, secured and unsecured lending transactions, corporate financings and debt restructurings, as well as securitisations of loan and trade receivables.

She is also involved in the sale and servicing of NPEs and M&A transactions involving financial institutions.

Prior to joining the Firm, Maria worked at the Single Resolution Board in Brussels, where she was a member of the Internal Resolution Team working on the resolution planning of EU credit institutions.

Recent work includes advice to:

  • U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) on its financing agreement for a $125 million loan to ONEX Elefsis Shipyards and Industries to rehabilitate and modernize the Elefsina shipyard;

  • A syndicate of international banks and Greek investment firms in connection with the divestment of a 22% stake held by the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund in National Bank of Greece S.A. (Project Green);

  • Waterwheel Capital Management in relation to a binding agreement with the four Greek systemic banks for the acquisition of 95% of the Class B and Class C notes to be issued in the context of the securitisation of the Solar Portfolio, consisting of common, predominantly non-performing exposures of corporate and SME loans with an on-balance sheet value of c.€1.2 billion (Project Solar);

  • Alpha Bank in its capacity as subscriber and bondholder agent in connection with a €315mn bond loan issued by Public Power Corporation S.A.;

  • A syndicate of Greek systemic banks in their capacity as subscribers in connection with a €485mn syndicated bond loan issued by Public Power Corporation S.A. (Project Radio);

  • A Greek factoring company in connection with a revolving securitisation structure including credit claims originated under factoring framework agreements.
