Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), a critical development for non-EU investors

Greece is moving towards the adoption of a national framework for screening Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), a critical development for non-EU investors targeting strategic sectors. In alignment with Regulation (EU) 2019/452, the proposed framework provides for the screening (on grounds of security or public order) of foreign investments that exceed specified thresholds.

The draft law is under public consultation until 17 April 2025.

To help stakeholders assess these changes, our Firm has prepared a detailed newsletter outlining the key aspects of the proposed regime.

This development is crucial not only for foreign (non-EU) investors, but also for domestic entities exploring joint investments with international partners.

Inside our newsletter, you’ll find:

✅ An overview of the proposed screening mechanism;

✅ Key insights on scope, sectors, and threshold considerations;

✅ Step-by-step guidance on the screening process;

✅ Procedural insights and potential implications;

✅ Full English translation of the draft law.

This effort is consistent with our Firm’s position at the forefront of advising foreign investors in their activities in Greece.
