Koutalidis Law Firm is pleased to announce that it has advised Waterwheel Capital Management on the acquisition of a portfolio of predominantly non-performing corporate exposures owned by Piraeus Bank S.A., through a securitisation structure.
Waterwheel acquired 100% of the notes issued under the securitisation, relating to the “Solar” portfolio — a joint initiative of the four Greek systemic banks to manage non-performing corporate claims. The portfolio, with a gross book value of approx. €0.3 billion as of 31 December 2024, includes corporate loans and other credit claims of SMEs and will be serviced by Cepal Hellas.
Our Banking & Finance team, led by Partner Effie Papoutsi and supported by Associates Maria Krika and Christiana Verdeli, advised on all Greek law aspects of the transaction.
This transaction highlights Koutalidis Law Firm’s deep expertise in structured finance and its ongoing commitment to supporting investments in the Greek banking sector.
