Unconditional clearance of one of the first FDI filings under Law 5202/2025

We are pleased to announce that our Koutalidis Law Firm has successfully handled one of the first Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) filings in Greece under the newly established Law 5202/2025. And it was a quite complex one as the filing concerned the acquisition by an international investor of several target companies holding a diversified portfolio of more than 20 RES projects.

We are particularly proud that, despite the complexity of the transaction, the application was approved unconditionally within just a few days of submission. Crucially, the filing was deemed full and complete from the outset, allowing for an immediate approval without any requests for additional information or procedural “back and forth”.

Ultimately, the FDI process focuses heavily on critical assets in energy and infrastructure. Therefore, having a dedicated Energy & Infra team with deep expertise in these sectors is a strategic advantage. Acting as a “one-stop shop”, we are able to fully understand the relevant sector, foresee the regulator’s potential concerns, and efficiently explain all necessary parameters to the authorities.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the @Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the competent executives for their professionalism. We specifically appreciate their availability to provide guidance and clarifications, which facilitated a smooth and swift process.

Our team was led by Energy & Infrastructure Partner Evans (Evangelos) Courakis, with key support from our Associates Evangelos Mylonas – Tsoumas, Ioanna Marouso Argyriou, Anastasia Ioanna Korili and VASSILIKI XYNOU, whose sector expertise and close coordination were instrumental in achieving this result.
